Commvault announces new integration partnerships

Back-up and restore company Commvault has announced full integration between Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery Software and Hewlett Packard Enterprise StoreOnce systems, including integration with HPE StoreOnce Catalyst, at its Commvault GO 2018 conference in Nashville on Tuesday.

In addition, Commvault announced that Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery Software was now available for direct purchase from NetApp and NetApp channel partners.

Tightly-integrated and a primary back-up solution across the NetApp storage portfolio, Commvault Complete Backup & Recovery Software provides more features and functionality than previous offerings for any environment, whether it be on-premise, hybrid or in the cloud.

NetApp is linking Commvault's leading back-up and recovery solution with NetApp's successful and innovative Data Fabric, enabling customers to simplify snapshot management and back-up and recovery, and easily extend data protection to the cloud.

{loadposition davidh08}"Commvault's Complete Backup & Recovery software aligns with our Data Fabric approach to give organisations unprecedented access and control of their data to help pursue business priorities and safeguard key information and assets," said Joel Reich, executive vice-president and general manager, Storage Systems and Software business unit, NetApp.

"Our relationship with Commvault helps NetApp deliver the most modern data products and services to customers and channel partners."

"Together with NetApp, we are helping enterprise customers reduce IT and data management costs and complexity by eliminating the need for multiple software and hardware products or single-purpose tools," said Owen Taraniuk, head of Worldwide Partnerships and Market Development at Commvault.

"Our combined solutions help make infrastructure more efficient and help customers manage storage growth. Commvault can seamlessly enable data recovery and offsite data management, turning data protection into a function that serves the business. This expanded relationship is continuing evidence of the success and momentum coming from Commvault's shift to a partner-led strategy."

The joint solution with Hewlett Packard Enterprise allows Commvault to manage the full lifecycle of data management operations for HPE StoreOnce systems. Integration between HPE StoreOnce systems using Catalyst Copy meets evolving back-up, recovery, and compliance challenges, while tightening resource requirements and responding to the ever-expanding data growth that customers are facing.

Commvault claims that together, the integration of Commvault Complete, with HPE StoreOnce systems, optimises storage costs, reduces network traffic, provides seamless data mobility and simplifies data management. Additionally, users can move back-up data natively, reliably, and cost-effectively to the public, private, or hybrid cloud. This capability is delivered by HPE Cloud Bank Storage, a feature that is scheduled to be supported by an upcoming HPE software release in November.

"Through our partnership, we are delivering proven solutions that let customers manage the protection of their data assets, regardless of where they may be located," said Patrick Osborne, HPE vice-president and general manager of Big Data and Secondary Storage. "HPE and Commvault provide a data management and storage platform that enables the movement, management and use of data across on-premises and cloud locations."

The new solution from Commvault and HPE includes support for low bandwidth mode (source-side) deduplication that reduces redundant data, minimises automated movement of data to lower cost storage as data ages based on user-defined policies, and includes support for synthetic, full back-ups using Catalyst Clone.

"Commvault and HPE are committed to our strategic global alliance and providing customers with industry-leading software and hardware solutions that are unmatched by the competition," said Taraniuk. "This expansion of our joint offerings allows us to meet new market use cases and implement holistic data management strategies that help customers accelerate digital transformation initiatives and reduce IT complexity."

Commvault is a global leader in back-up, recovery, the cloud and data management across any hybrid environment.
