The latest version of Veeam Availability Suite handles virtual, physical and multi-cloud workloads from a single console.
Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 3 (VAS 9.5 U3) allows organisations to replace multiple legacy back-up products with a single, consistent platform to ensure availability.
"Veeam recognised a decade ago that a more innovative approach to backup and availability was needed, and delivered what quickly became the number one VM backup solution with precedented reliability and ease-of- use," said co-chief executive and president Peter McKay.
"Since then, our customers have been clamouring for the same Veeam innovation for all their workloads so that they can ditch legacy backup solutions completely. It is our top customer request, and today we are delivering that making Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 Update 3 – the biggest release in Veeam's 10-year history! In one, unified Veeam solution, customers can manage their entire environment — virtual, physical, or cloud — and ensure number one availability for any app, any data, any cloud."
{loadposition stephen08}Another feature of U3 is Veeam's new Universal Storage API, which will allow the company to more rapidly support new storage integrations for superior back-up performance, reduced risk of data loss, and more rapid recovery, the company claimed.
For example, U3 provides integration with IBM Spectrum Virtualize, providing storage snapshots to IBM Storwize and any SAN Volume Controller based storage arrays, and to the Lenovo Storage V Series.
This builds on existing strategic partnerships with HPE, Cisco and NetApp.
"Availability is both a customer expectation and a business requirement for organisations of all sizes in today's data-driven marketplace," said Lenovo server and storage executive director Kamran Amini.
"Veeam primary storage integration with Lenovo brings the market's number one availability solutions to Lenovo V Series hybrid and all flash storage arrays. With V Series integration and DS Series solutions, together, we'll deliver the new levels of data protection and recovery agility that our customers are demanding to meet their ever increasing uptime requirements."
Other new capabilities include:
• Built-in management for Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 2.1 and Veeam Agent for Linux v2;
• Support for VMware Cloud on AWS; and
• New analytics and monitoring capabilities in Veeam ONE, including agent monitoring and reporting, and data sovereignty compliance reporting.
"In line with our core vision of managing, protecting and making recoverable any app, any data across any cloud and to ensure the always-on availability of applications, data, services and workloads, Veeam has again delivered with some core capabilities as part of its Update 3," said Veeam Software's ANZ head of systems engineering Nathan Steiner.
"This release ensures a simple, flexible and agile approach to availability management of hybrid cloud workloads centrally under a 'single pane' as well as Veeam commitment to delivering more flexible solution integration that is API driven for the benefit of customers.
"Our ANZ market is highly virtualised and adopting rapidly a hybrid cloud target state underpinned with market leading virtualisation. Customers want seamless, flexible augmentation of private, managed and public cloud integration and Update 3 provides for this in an unprecedented way."
