HPE sets up tech service organisation

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has launched an organisation called Pointnext which will provide advisory and transformation services, and professional and occupation solutions.

What HPE calls "a newly redefined technology services organisation" will be "dedicated to helping companies accelerate their digital transformations and make desired business outcomes a reality".

This is the latest change for the company as it attempts to look for ways to regain at least a part of it glory of past years.

In October 2014, the company split into HP Inc, which included its PC and printer business, and HPE, housing its service business and enterprise products.

Later in the year, the sale of the software arm of HPE to British mainframe company Micro Focus was announced.

The company said in a media release that HPE Pointnext would be able to harness the expertise of more than 25,000 specialists in 80 countries and covering 30 languages.

They would range from cloud consulting experts to operational services experts. "These teams collaborate with businesses worldwide to speed their adoption of emerging technologies, including cloud computing and hybrid IT, big data and analytics, the Intelligent Edge and Internet of Things (IoT)," it said.

"Digital transformation is driving an incredible pace of change for our industry and our customers’ needs are evolving just as quickly," said Stephen Bovis, vice-president and general manager, Enterprise Group, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, South Pacific.

"Services are at the core of our ability to be that strategic partner to our clients and help them on their transformation journey. In fact, its role in our business has never been more critical."

In September 2015, HP said it would be shedding 30,000 jobs as part of its restructuring. HP Inc announced last year that 4000 jobs would go by 2019.
