At the recent Veritas information governance and management conference, it was revealed that perhaps as much of 60% of unstructured data was redundant, obsolete, and trivial (ROT). And it's clogging your enterprise storage.
While stopping the ROT is imperative from a cost control, business continuity, and sheer volume of data perspective, data hoarders are everywhere. Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced enhancements to its HPE XP7 that take it from the high-performing, HDD/Flash hybrid enterprise-class storage to even higher-performing, by adding retrofittable all-flash arrays, new controllers, and software-based compression and deduplication to the storage stack.
HPE has many customers in financial services, manufacturing and healthcare using the XP7 Storage in both hybrid flash and all-flash configurations. The data reduction technologies are now available for all-flash, hybrid, and disk-based configurations.

The enhancements to the HPE XP7 Storage architecture include:
- 60% greater performance (up to 4.8 million IOPS) to support large, mission-critical applications and large-scale consolidation.
- Improved all-flash affordability at USD $1.20 per usable gigabyte.
- Greater density with new 14TB flash module devices (FMDs), which also support hardware-accelerated inline data compression.
- New software-based deduplication and compression capabilities are available across FMDs, solid state drives and hard disk drives.
- New and improved XP7 Performance Advisor software for intuitive performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Improved high availability options and new data migration packages delivered via software for easy migration from legacy XP systems to HPE XP7 Storage.
